Book Spotlight: Death of the Body (Crossing Death, Book 1) by Rick Chiantaretto (A Bearded Scribe Blog Tour)

Good Day, Beardies!

I was driving home from work the other day, rocking out to a little Bruno Mars on the local radio station. All of the sudden, the music turned to static and, in what seemed like incredibly slow motion, a car pulled out in front of me to turn left but stopped in my lane. I was driving the speed limit, which was 50 MPH for this particular strip of road, and all I could picture in my head was me T-boning this car. As I was slamming on my brakes and swearing under my breath, the car realized I was about to plow into him and he moved out of my lane, continuing on his way. The music came back on shortly thereafter, and I continued down the road toward my house. Normally, I would consider this an average daily commute, but after reading today's Spotlight, Beardies, I was freaking out. I'm still not fully convinced demons weren't somehow involved in this situation. Anyway, you guys, I cannot rave enough about this book! Let's get to it, shall we?

Book Spotlight: Silent Intrusion by Adam Gillrie (A Bearded Scribe Blog Tour)

Happy Day, Beardies!

Where has the time gone? January is done, and February is upon us! I'm learning time flies—whether I want it to or not. These winter months are screaming past, though, and I couldn't be happier about it. I'm looking forward to clear skies, warm breezes, and flowers blooming. I wish I had a funny story to share about what's been going on with me the last few months—but alas, it was just boring, every day life. No one wants to hear me go on and on about work, school, homework, stomach flu, etc. (If you do, follow me on Twitter.) I'm happy to be back doing another Spotlight today. Let's get to it, shall we?

Book Spotlight: The Maze by Jason Brannon

Happy Day Beardies!

‘Tis the season to be grateful and boy, oh boy, am I ever grateful. I have a fantastic family. I live in a picturesque location. I have a job that I usually enjoy. I have good friends. I’ve read lots of fantastic books. I’ve spent countless hours being entertained by good television. I’m feeling pretty lucky to be me. I love the month of November. That sort of in between time when fall turns into winter and where everyone tries their best to be upbeat and thankful. I’m happy to be here at The Bearded Scribe and sharing a new Book Spotlight with you lovely readers today. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Book Spotlight: Thorns of an Innocent Soul by Barbara Watkins

Happy Day Beardies!

I survived! Another Halloween is now in the record books: I planned and ran a 4th grade school party, I watched 600+ kids parade through the school gym, AND I took my 3 kiddos out Trick-or-Treating—not once, but twice! We joined a majority of our town in doing a safe Trick-or-Treating along Main Street from 3-5pm. Then, after a hearty dinner, we ventured out into the neighborhood where we spent a few more hours collecting an ungodly amount of sugar. Fun was had by one and all, and I think I've eaten enough Sweetarts to get me through to next Halloween; I'm glad I survived to tell the tale. Speaking of mayhem and the macabre, I love a good thriller or mystery book to read around Halloween—and today's Book Spotlight was definitely an interesting novella to read for the holiday.

Book Spotlight: Ennara and the Fallen Druid (Ennara #1) by Angela Myron

Happy Day Beardies!

It's confession time today here at The Bearded Scribe. Gather 'round. Everyone ready? Okay, here I go with my confession: I like playing MMORPG's. I know. I know. What is a classy bookworm like me doing getting my gaming on? I blame this solely on my husband who has been a gaming nerd for way longer than I've known him. I wondered what was consuming his free time and decided, if I wanted some more of his attention, I should give it a whirl. Now I find myself logging on to explore far-away, fantasy lands and to kill mystical creatures. I also like the story lines from the quests you complete while going through the game. A few of you may wonder, "Gee, Autumn, what brought about this confession today?" Well, I'm glad you asked. Today's confession is a great way to lead into my Book Spotlight because the book reminded me a lot of an online fantasy game. Wizards, mystical creatures, far-away lands, quests, potions...it just goes on and on. Enough of me and my online habit, though; onto the book...

Book Spotlight: Truth's Blood by Tyler Roberts

Happy Day Beardies!

October is hands down the busiest month of the year in my house. We have a lot of school commitments, family activities, and of course, my kid's favorite holiday: Halloween. Who doesn't love a holiday dedicated to candy? The time and energy put into selecting a costume and picking out the perfect pumpkin is exhausting. This year I am a classroom mother so I'm planning the Halloween party that has to be lots of fun, create little mess, and have treats that cater to FIVE different food allergies. Fun will be had by all, though. To break up all the festive fall things I sat down and devoured today's Spotlight. Sit back and enjoy because this one is a thrill ride.

Book Spotlight: The Survivors by Daniel Harvell

Happy Day Beardies,

I’m in season! What? No seasonal, weather joke fans out there? When I look out my window I can see the leaves are changing colors. The air is noticeably cooler and feels crisp. Everything is smelling pumpkin spiced. I am one happy camper. All joking aside, autumn is my favorite season ('tis a mystery why, right?); I’m giddy to spend every waking moment outside before the dreaded snow begins to take over the landscape. While I am a weather lover, I am a bigger book enthusiast so let’s get down to the real reason I’m here chatting it up today, another Book Spotlight.

Book Spotlight: The Box (The Box Series, Book 1) by Christina G. Gaudet

Happy Day Beardies,

Greetings from the wild, warm west. I hope that everyone had a great summer full of sunshine, cold drinks, and good books. Mine was busy but fun. My kids requested a Phineas and Ferb summer experience, so when I wasn’t slaving away at work, we were out hunting for our next great adventure. I’m excited to be settling back down into a school year routine and having a little more down time to enjoy the changing weather. This is my first Book Spotlight here at The Bearded Scribe. This little book was a lovely summer time, sit by the pool, kind of read. Let’s dive in, shall we?
