Michael Fields was born in Louisiana, the youngest of two boys (at the time) until his sister was born. He grew up most of his adolescence in Louisiana; at 17, however, he began moving around between cities such as Nashville, Denver, Chicago, and Atlanta—a stint more than once in each except Denver, including a relocation back to Louisiana at one point.
His love of books began young, enticed (as many of us were) by R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series. He's almost certain that he has read every single one on them! After Stine, he became extremely fascinated with both Greek mythology and the horror writings of Neal Shusterman, spending lots of hours in the library during middle school.
When the Harry Potter series was published, Michael became obsessed. Truth be told, he cannot count the amount of times he re-read the first four books in the series. Along with the Harry Potter series, Michael also thoroughly enjoyed the Star Wars novels and Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series, the latter of which he claims are way better than the movies.
Movies, however, are his bread and butter; it's the only thing about which he's ever really been passionate. Film makes him feel so much more than anything else he's encountered. He loves film for the way it forces people to feel things, even things they may not want to feel. It's the main catalyst behind his desire to write, create, and direct his own movies; he just wants to make people feel things—good and bad—to get them out of the monotony of reality television and their day-to-day lives, to make them feel something different. Even profound. He plans to (if he hasn't already stepped a foot in the door to the world of filmmaking) attend film school within the next year.
Michael is proud of his admiration of the speculative, and colorfully displays that love through the tapestry of ink that covers his body. His sleeves are all based on Greek mythology—he has Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Persephone, Ares, a siren, Hydra, Cerberus, Mount Olympus, and Atlantis. He has plans to start on his legs next, which will display all the beloved characters from his favorite movies.
